At North Pennines Archaeology Limited (NPAL) for commercial services we offer a range of finds processing and analysis on artefacts recovered from all fieldwork. The artefacts are cleaned, marked and quantified before being identified and stored to IFA guidelines. The finds processing comes under project management so all work is completed to a budget and deadline. A comprehensive report is written detailing the types of artefact and a general date given. If further work is required a more comprehensive report can be compiled with detailed illustrations, photographs and a written report detailing the type and usage of artefact recovered and a more accurate date with possible parallels from other archaeological sites.
On larger excavations at North Pennines Archaeology Limited we also work closely with finds specialists and conservators (see list of specialists) from various universities. This ensures the artefacts we recover are examined thoroughly by the relevant specialists, the results of which are provided in the final published report.
